Safer Online Day parents workshop
Date: 5th Feb 2019 @ 9:46am
Today was ‘Safer online day’ and we were fortunate that Chris Dunn from the NSPCC visited school to hold a workshop for parents on ‘Keeping our children safe online’. He advised parents on the various apps available to children and how the internet is useful for learning but also holds many dangers if children are not given opportunities to learn how to use the internet safely.
He informed parents of a a range of safer sites for children to visit such as ‘Google Kids’ and ‘Youtube Kids’ which reduce the advertisements and contents that may not be appropriate to children.
It was a very informative session and we hope parents have gone away with an increased awareness of how to support their child online. The booklet sent home last week will support you in keeping your child safe online and give you advice on what to do if you have concerns.
Please have a look online at https://www.net-aware.org.uk/ as this will help make you become more aware of games and apps on the internet and the filters on them.
