Careers education at Bretherton

In May 2023 we held our Career/ Enterprise Fair and it was a very successful week. It had been the first one since Covid and 2019, however it is typically held every 2 years.

Our school has a link to STEM careers and through the Science Award, STEM careers have high profile. Careers in Art and Design are also included within our curriculum coverage with children being taught about people from 'The Arts'. Not just famous people but career artists, such as member so Ignite Theatre who inspire our children.

Career education is established at Bretherton from an early age. We look at jobs and careers and the associated qualification and skills as part of out PHSE curriculum. In addition last year we hosted a careers week and we had many visitors and companies come in to share their career journeys , in particular we welcomed the Police- mounted, dog handling and accident investigation. We met entrepreneurs and construction professionals who really opened up the children’s understanding.At the end of the week, after planning , resourcing, manufacturing, marketing and presenting products in our enterprise day at the end of the week. Parents and guests enjoyed coming to buy the products and we found some fantastic sales advisors!
