Class 2 Local History Walk
Date: 19th Nov 2024 @ 12:16pm
In our history lessons, we have been learning about sources and have used sources to find out about the history of Bretherton. We are very lucky that we have a local historian who has pictures of her house from 1910, and the children used this picture to infer about where and when the picture was taken. We then told them it was in Bretherton and today, we went on a local walk to the house to find out all about it. Mrs Ryding showed us how the house has changed and that in the past, her kitchen was a barn where they kept the cow. We had a look at some old artifacts and discussed the vegetables that they would have been able to grow using the land at the back of the house. We then went to see Hector the horse who is similar to one of the horses who would have ploughed the fields in the past.
Thank you Mrs Ryding. Class 2 had a lovely walk to your house and learnt a lot from the visit.
