Class 2 trip to Brockholes Nature Reserve
Date: 18th Jun 2019 @ 7:55pm
Today, our children enjoyed a wonderful day of discovery at Brockholes Nature Reserve. We all became a wildlife explorer, getting close to nature, in this amazing 250 acre reserve site.
We commenced our day with a minibeast hunt. We searched under logs, in the trees and in the grass for fascinating bugs, beatles and minibeasts.
Armed with a large net, we continued our minibeast adventure in the meadows where we could take a closer look, identifying more species. Our intrepid hunters found damselflies, spiders, ground beetles, butterflies and ladybirds.
During the afternoon, pond dipping proved very popular. We explored the world of nature beneath the water, discovering many fascinating creatures including newts, water lice, waterboat men and leaches to name but a few!
A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all and I’d like to say a special thank you to all our invaluable volunteers: Mr Palmer Davis, Miss Harrison, Miss Quicler, Miss Hodge and Mrs Mosscrop.
